Dear Doctor
My hand was burnt by bursting cracker 2 months ago. It has been healed now but the scar is not gone. I’m using silverex and coconut oil for it. Which medicine or home remedy should be used to rejuvenate the skin asap?
Dear Patient
Since your skin is healing quite well, I would suggest that you give it time for the process to be completed naturally. During this waiting period keep it well moisturized. Aquaphor Healing Ointment is recommended by many dermatologists for use while the skin is rejuvenating after minor cosmetic procedures. Organic coconut oil is also not a bad choice.
There are also several nutrients that can aid skin rejuvenation. These include:
Vitamin C
Vitamin C, which is also known as ascorbic acid, is a potent antioxidant which protects the cells from free radical damage. It also helps the skin heal since it is need for the production of collagen. Collagen is a vital component of the skin since it helps maintain elasticity and strength. Vitamin C can be taken at a dose of 1000 mg 3 times a day.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is another potent antioxidant which also assists skin regeneration and promotes healing. It can be taken by mouth or applied on the burn once it has healed and new skin has been formed. It can be taken at a dose of 400 to 800 IU a day.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is another potent antioxidant which is also important for skin regeneration. It is vital for healthy epithelial cells which line surfaces in the body.
Zinc
Zinc is a mineral which is important for wound healing since it aides the process of tissue repair.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids
These essential fatty acids reduce inflammation and are useful for healing. They can be obtained from cold water fish like salmon and halibut. They can also be consumed as fish oi capsules.
