Dear Doctor
I have so many acne in face and neck what should I do?????? my blood group is b positive and I am 21 years old…..
Dear Patient
You have moderate acne vulgaris and I suggest that you do the following:
Prescription Moderate Acne Vulgaris Treatment
Take antibiotics by mouth
Consult your nearest doctor and get a prescription for 2 to 6 months of antibiotics like doxycycline or minocycline since they reduce inflammation and the population of the bacteria P. acnes.
These antibiotics make the skin more sensitive to the sun and so you must use a non-comedogenic (will not clog pores) sunscreen with a SPF of atleast 15 like EltaMD SPF 46 Sunscreen.
Note that a sunscreen will also keep the acne marks from darkening.
Apply a retinoid at night
Consult your nearest doctor and get a prescription of a retinoid like tretinoin (Retin-A) or adaplene (Differin) that you can apply to your face at night after cleansing.
OTC Moderate Acne Vulgaris Treatment
If you cannot get to a doctor straight away you can try the following over the counter treatment for moderate acne:
Use an anti-acne face wash twice a day
Use a face wash which contains benzoyl peroxide like Clean and Clear Acne Cleanser to wash your face twice a day.
Apply a salicylic acid moisturizer in the morning
Apply a moisturizer that contains salicylic acid in the morning after cleansing like Clean and Clear Oil Free Moisturizer .
Apply a retinol at night
Apply a retinol at night after your cleansing. For example you can use Amara Organics Retinol 2.5% Serum.
Adopt an Acne-Free Lifestyle
Adopt an acne-free lifestyle by doing the following:
*Joining a smoking cessation program if you smoke cigarettes
*Cleaning your mobile phone with antiseptic wipes regularly
*Eating low glycemic index foods like whole grain bread, spinach, and tomatoes. To learn more read How to Treat Acne at Home.
