As you can see I have a lot of under the skin pimples. I also have acne scars that were a lot worse then you can see. I also have very bad blackheads and whiteheads. What do you recommend as a topical treatment? I’d my skin treatable by over the counter treatments like Vichy or Proactive? Thank you in advance for all your help!
Your picture is not very clear and so I cannot clearly see blackheads and whiteheads.
I do see a few dark areas but due to the nature of the photo, I cannot tell whether they are caused by post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (the dark marks that are left on the skin after conditions like acne heal) or if they are caused by true acne scars or if they are just shadows.
I therefore suggest that you send us a more focused photo.
Chin Acne Causes
If you truly have chin acne, your hormones may contribute to it since many women develop breakouts on their chins just before their monthly periods.
Women with hormonal conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) also tend to develop breakouts on their jawlines and chins.
This hormonal factor works together with the other factors that cause acne like clogging of the skin pore, increased oil production, and bacteria.
Perioral Dermatitis Causes
From what I can see, I think we are dealing with a condition known as perioral dermatitis.
This condition is caused by applying steroid medications on the face usually in an attempt to treat conditions like acne.
Its treatment includes not applying those corticosteroid medications.
In conclusion, since I cannot tell you whether you have chin acne or perioral dermatitis or another condition, I highly recommend that you send us another clear and focused photo so that I can give you the best over-the-counter treatment recommendations for your skin condition.
