This skin condition is known as Tinea manuum. In simple English it is a fungal infection of the hand.
The treatment for Tinea Manuum includes:
A. Antifungal creams that can be used to treat Tinea Manuum include:
1. 1% Clotrimazole cream can be applied twice daily for 4 weeks. The skin lesions usually disappear within one or two weeks (clinical cure) but the antifungal cream must be applied for two more weeks to ensure all the fungi are eradicated (mycological cure).
2. Terbinafine cream
B. Systemic antifungals are used if there is no improvement with the topical creams. They include:
1. Terbinafine (Lamisil)
2. Itraconazole (Sporanox)
3. Ketoconazole
4. Griseofulvin
